NAIROBI, Kenya, September 17 – CREST, the global non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the cyber security industry, is ramping up efforts to professionalize and expand cyber security service providers worldwide.
With the introduction of the Cyber Accelerated Maturity Programme (CREST CAMP), a pioneering initiative funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), CREST aims to fast-track the maturity and growth of companies in regions where there is a recognized need to enhance cybersecurity ecosystems.
Running from September 2024 to March 2025, CREST CAMP will be implemented in Armenia, Bahrain, Georgia, Ghana, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Thailand, Oman, and the Philippines.
The program’s goal is to enhance cybersecurity maturity while emphasizing the critical role of the private sector in safeguarding national security.
Nick Benson, CEO of CREST said the initiative is key part of the organization’s global effort to support companies in their journey towards professionalization and growth.
“CREST’s active work in global capacity building is essential for those companies that need more support and guidance. Thank you to the FCDO for supporting CREST CAMP and recognising the importance of the private sector in developing a country’s cyber resilience and better securing Critical National Infrastructure,” he said.
The program was officially launched at the Wilton Park Dialogue on ‘Securing Technology: Sustaining a High-Quality Cybersecurity Workforce’ on September 17, 2024.
The company said launch cements CREST’s commitment to actively supporting the development of sustainable cyber ecosystems, ensuring that companies across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia have access to the mentorship, resources, and guidance needed to professionalize and grow.
A key element of CREST CAMP is collaboration, drawing on the strength of a global network of CREST accredited member companies, training providers, and academic partners.
The program will work closely with national cybersecurity authorities and a select group of service providers in each region, who will receive intensive mentorship from CREST’s 380+ established member companies.
This mentorship is designed to guide participating companies through their professional growth, helping them achieve accreditation, expand their local customer base, and ultimately position themselves to export their services with the prestige of being a CREST-accredited organization.
