Ghanaian-British entrepreneur seeks talent in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 6 – Award-winning Ghanaian-British entrepreneur and philanthropist Basil David Anthony is in Kenya to scout for talent for various entrepreneurial projects.

Anthony, who arrived on Sunday, is a well-known and celebrated African business figure, recognized globally for his numerous successful ventures.

The seasoned business expert with nearly 20 years of experience in sectors such as flooring, IT, marketing, events, entertainment, and travel, reflected on his challenging yet rewarding entrepreneurial journey.

“I’ve always had this drive and passion. You either have it naturally or develop it. This is my calling, and I can’t imagine doing anything else,” he said. “Awards and achievements are great, but staying focused and making an impact is what truly matters.”

At 38, Anthony has garnered numerous accolades, including the People’s Choice Award at Ghana’s 40 Under 40 Awards (2023), Top Young CEOs in Ghana (2023), and Africa 40 Under 40 recognition in Kenya.

“We need to drive change. My goal is to transform Africa, one entrepreneur at a time, which is why I established the David Basil Foundation,” he explained.

Anthony is also launching a reality show aimed at discovering entrepreneurial talents among young Africans. Participants will pitch their ideas to a judging panel, with financial support provided for the best concepts.

“We want to help them scale their businesses. In Africa, we produce too many job seekers instead of job creators because we’re not promoting entrepreneurship as a viable and exciting path,” he noted.

Young entrepreneurs are now invited to register for the initiative, with a selection process determining the final participants for the show, “Africa’s Next Young Millionaire,” premiering in Kenya later this year.

As CEO of Modern Floors, Anthony is also in Kenya to enhance the company’s presence and participate in an expo at the Sarit Centre.

Additionally, Anthony highlighted his philanthropic work in providing free sanitary pads to young women across Africa.

“I urge young entrepreneurs to be relentless, focused, and savvy with money. You don’t always need huge capital to start a business. Forge your own path and stay true to yourself,” he concluded.
