NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 14 – Kenyans can now breathe a slight sigh of relief after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) cut fuel prices by between Sh7 and Sh4.
Therefore, a liter of petrol at midnight in Nairobi will cost Sh199.15 with a Sh7.21 slash.
The regulator has also reduced the price of diesel by Sh5.09 to Sh190.38 and that of kersone by Sh4.49 to Sh188.74.
EPRA says that the revised prices are inclusive of the 16 percent value-added tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, which is already in force, as well as the Tax Laws Amendment Act of 2020 and the revised rates for the excise duty adjusted for inflation.
Earlier, President William Ruto, while speaking during a development tour of Kericho, disclosed the government’s intentions to lower fuel prices, adding that it is part of the government’s initiatives to ensure that the country moves forward on the right trajectory.
“Today new fuel prices will be announced, so be patient. Didn’t I tell you I will straighten these things?” the head of state indicated.
