NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 19 – Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Information, Communications, and Technology Eliud Owalo has terminated the appointment of the acting Managing Director of Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC), Samuel Maina, with immediate effect.
In a statement on Tuesday, Owalo said that the termination is a result of Maina committing the government to pay Sh767 billion ($5bn) in the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) in a case versus KBC without the approval of the Ministry, National Treasury, Attorney General, and Department of Justice.
Owalo has picked Paul Macharia, who is currently the Communication Economic Expert at the National Communication Secretariat under the Ministry of ICT, as the acting MD with immediate effect for a period of six months.
