NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 26 – Online food delivery platform Uber Eats has expanded to Eldoret and Naivasha as the firm seeks to expand its countrywide presence.
Expansion to the two towns will now allow locals to order food and groceries online and have them delivered to their doorsteps.
It will also create business opportunities for restaurants, merchants, and delivery people.
With the extension, Uber Eats total nationwide city presence has grown to five in Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, and now Naivasha as well as Eldoret.
“We have also rolled out operational updates in Nakuru and Mombasa as we continue with our vision to become people’s everyday choice for instant access to local commerce, offering delivery on everything from restaurant meals, grocery to pharmacy and retail,” Kui Mbugua, General Manager, Uber Eats Kenya, said.
The growing prominence of e-commerce services has created new opportunities for firms such as Uber and Bolt to tap.
Today, the UberEats app offers other services such as convenience, pharmacy and wellness, and everyday essentials.
This came after its internal data showed that customers are looking for a diversity of offerings beyond traditional restaurants.
“Through Uber Eats, we seek to enhance the overall delivery experience and contribute to the local economy by supporting restaurants and retailers in these cities,” Mbugua added.
