NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Sarova Hotels & Resorts will open its first hotel in Kisumu, targeting tourists and area’s middle class.
The firm will operate under the Sarova Imperial Hotel Kisumu.
The area’s tourism boom has been boosted by Lake Victoria, animal sanctuaries, conferences, and a devolved unit that has seen visitors troop into the County, pushing up demand for hospitality services.
However, the firm did not provide a timeline for when it will be opening its doors to customers.
“Kisumu City is growing and we’re growing with it! We look forward to being a part of the thriving cultural & leisure scene!” the firm said in a statement.
In April, Sarova added Imperial Hotel Kisumu to the group’s portfolio after the signing a 7-year management agreement with the hotel’s owners, the Gilani family.
Located in Kisumu’s Central Business District, Sarova Imperial Hotel is currently undergoing an extensive upgrade that once complete in July/August 2022 will see the launch of 93 renovated guest bedrooms including suites, new meeting facilities, and upgraded food and beverage outlets.
