President Ruto Assures of Transparent NYS Recruitment For Youth

The National Youth Service has announced the commencement of a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer service men and women, scheduled to run from February 5 to February 9.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 27 – President William Ruto has assured that the upcoming National Youth Service (NYS) recruitment process will be conducted fairly and without any undue influence.

Speaking during his three-day tour of the Mt. Kenya region in Meru County over the weekend, President Ruto emphasized that the selection of NYS recruits would be free from bribery and that his administration remained steadfast in the fight against corruption, even within the government’s various arms.

“I fully support the stance of Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, who has made it clear that there will be no specific list provided by my office, the Public Service Ministry, or the local MCAs indicating preferred candidates for NYS recruitment,” President Ruto declared.

President Ruto said that those successfully recruited into NYS and who completed their training would receive priority consideration for government job placements.

Opportunities would arise within agencies such as the Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Defense Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, and the Criminal Investigation Department.

The National Youth Service has announced the commencement of a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer service men and women, scheduled to run from February 5 to February 9.

To be eligible for application, candidates must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 24 years, having attained a minimum grade of D or above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Additionally, the NYS has extended an invitation to disabled individuals who possess the capacity to undertake the training.

The NYS has encouraged disabled persons to participate in the recruitment exercise within their respective sub-counties and centers, provided they meet the physical training requirements.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria called upon all interested young people to seize this opportunity and apply for NYS service roles. He urged potential candidates to take note of the recruitment dates for their sub-counties as they prepare to attend.
