, NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 30 – The man accused of slashing a Moi University student to death earlier this month was charged Tuesday in Eldoret.

Naftali Kinuthia denied charges of murdering trainee doctor Ivy Wangechi at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he is accused of having hacked her using an axe.

He has been remanded until May 9 when the case will be mentioned and his bail application determined.

Detectives investigating the murder said the man had travelled to Eldoret from Thika to meet the deceased after sending her some money for her birthday celebration, but was upset when she failed to meet her.
