, MACHAKOS, Kenya, Apr 1 – President Uhuru Kenyatta is Tuesday expected to preside over the launch of National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) popularly known as Huduma Namba in Machakos County.

The event will be hosted at Masii Boys High School grounds beginning 10am.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Eastern Regional Commissioner, Isaiah Nakoru toured the venue where final preparations of the event were being undertaken. Several logistical issues regarding the tour were also addressed.

“Hosting the launch of NIIMS is a great recognition of a vote of confidence in our county and its leadership and we do not take this for granted. We have inspected all the arrangements in anticipation of a successful event and invite all to be part of this historic event,” Mutua said.

He said the launch of Huduma number will enable all Kenyan citizens to access Government services faster and more efficiently. “NIIMS will be a one stop identity where Kenyans will be able to access Government services without having to produce numerous documents,” he said.

Eastern RC Nakoru urged members of the public to ignore falsehoods being peddled about NIIMS terming them diversionary.

“It is unfortunate that some people have alleged that Huduma Namba is satanic. These are pure lies which must not be consumed by the public,” said Nakoru.

Mwala MP, Vincent Musyoka who was also present said that Huduma Namba will be an immediate solution for so many problems facing Kenyans currently.

“Many of the problems we have been experiencing as a country will be eliminated through NIIMS. This launch is therefore a very important milestone for Kenya particularly in provision of government services,” said Musyoka.

The launch will however be pegged on a case whose ruling was expected Monday afternoon.
