NAIROBI, May 21 – Orange Democratic Movement-Kenya leadership Wednesday assured the Kriegler Commission that the party was ready to cooperate with the commission and contribute to the success of its findings and recommendations.
Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka said the role of the commission was important in insulating the country against a repeat of such crisis as witnessed after the 2007 General Election.
Musyoka commended the Commission for the progress made so far, noting that the members were experienced individuals with expertise from across the Globe.
“This is a very competent and dependable individual working as a team for the good of this country, we in ODM-Kenya will support the team to enable reach a conclusive finding and recommendation,” he said.
The Vice President made the remarks at his Jogoo House Office when he received members of the Independent Review Commission led by Retired South African Judge Johann Kriegler.
Musyoka, who is the ODM-Kenya party leader, said ODM-Kenya would present its memorandum when it is called to forward their views.
He added that it was important to look into the entire electoral process that led to the last General Election in order to come up with comprehensive findings on what transpired and guard the country against any repetition of a similar crisis.
The Vice President expressed confidence that Kenya would emerge even stronger after the experience of post election crisis and urged all stakeholders in the country to steer-off non-issue oriented politics, particularly during the campaigns for the forth coming by-elections.
Justice Kriegler thanked all those who have participated so far in the commission’s inquiry and expressed confidence that they would enjoy cooperation from all political parties and individual institutions.
