I have watched Gathoni Kimuyu rise and rise and rise over the last couple of years, and if you know her story (she once bared it all in detail on escaping from an abusive relationship that almost broke her into pieces to forging on and single handedly raising a brilliant daughter), then you will truly understand when I say, she has truly overcome a lot to get here. I often joke to her that I knew her when she only had 10 followers on twitter.
Today, she is a force to reckon with- in case you didn’t know, she is the Boss Lady aka Executive Producer behind the highly successful play, Too early for Birds- The Tom Mboya edition currently showing. Infact when we shot this spread at dusitD2 Nairobi , which took almost 7 hours, she was in between the show’s pre-production (Catch the Reruns of #TooEarlyForBirds #TomMboya Edition: Saturday November 9th Visa Oshwal Community Center 2:00PM & 7:00PM. ). Besides that, she is also an award winning TV producer.
The concept for this shoot was to celebrate her in her glow and to cheer her for the strides she has made thus far. One day she will look back and just beam with pride at how far she has truly come and as I often tell her, Be your biggest cheerleader.
