East African Bongo Flava icon Aslay has officially released his long-awaited sophomore album, ‘My Way’, marking a major new chapter in one of the region’s most celebrated musical journeys. Following years of anticipation from fans across Africa and beyond, the project arrives as a bold, emotionally rich and sonically diverse body of work that showcases Aslay’s growth as both an artist and storyteller.
‘My Way’ sees Aslay confidently exploring themes of love, passion, commitment, vulnerability and self-expression while staying true to the heartfelt songwriting that made him a household name.
Among the standout collaborations on the album is the highly anticipated Amapiano-influenced track featuring Chino Kidd, ‘Kipemba’. The song first sent social media into a frenzy after Aslay and Chino Kidd teased a snippet online, sparking massive excitement from fans eager to hear the full record.
The album also includes the fan-favorite pre-order single ‘Mtu Wangu’ featuring Kontawa, a powerful collaboration that helped build momentum ahead of the album release and reaffirmed Aslay’s ability to create emotionally resonant hits that connect deeply with audiences. The album also features a standout East African collaboration with Mombasa based Kenyan artist,’Shirko’ on the emotional track ‘Nimekumiss’. The song explores themes of longing, heartbreak and distance, blending Swahili and English expressions of love and regret.
