To celebrate their 33rd edition, Blankets and Wine will this weekend introduce their Africa mash-up project where two African artists consolidate their talent and come up with a fresh new sound.

For the first mash-up South African jazz/ soul/ funk musican Claire Phillips collaborating with our very own jazz composer and instrumentalist Aaron Rimbui. They shall work in a rehearsal environment that will allow them to co-create/re arrange each other’s music and then to present the result as a live performance at a Blankets& Wine event. The end result should feel like a live remix-mash up of each artist’s songs.

The live show will then be recorded in video and audio and will be mixed, mastered and packaged by Blankest & Wine who will then sell the music exclusively to the audience at Blankets & Wine with a percentage of sales going to the artists.

“All over the African continent, ethnic sounds are merging with western sounds to create unique musical offerings that capture the spirit of modern urban Africa such as South African House, Kuduro and Afrobeat. Our aim is to fuse Urban African Sounds with ethnic and urban Kenyan Sounds with the end aim of club ready music from Africa with a distinct East African flavour,” said B&W organiser Sandra Chege.

Electrique DJs and the beat parade band are also going to be making their debut performance on the Blankets & Wine stage.

Advance tickets are available on tickets sasa for Sh1,300.

At the gate, charges are Sh1,500 for adults and Sh500 for children.
