KTB looks to attract North American tourists

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 15 – Kenya has started marketing and promotion campaigns to increase the number of tourists from North America entering the country.

According to the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), the main goal is to capture a portion of the more than 360 million prospective tourists in the area.

It plans to accomplish these by holding roadshows from March 19th to 24th in Boston, New York City, and Toronto, Canada.

KTB CEO John Chirchir pointed out that Kenya needed to tap into the US market, which accounted for more than 35 percent of all travel to Africa after the outbreak of COVID-19.

“The US and Canada represent high-value source markets with great potential for Kenya’s tourism sector. With a combined population of over 16 million, the key cities we are targeting offer access to well-traveled, discerning travelers actively planning long-haul trips to Africa in the coming years,” Chirchir said.

To improve commercial relationships with travel trade partners and introduce North American customers to Kenya’s wide range of tourism products, KTB will spearhead a group of 26 private sector partners on roadshows.
