Samburu to host 2026 Rhino Charge conservation event

Organised by the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust, the event will take place from May 29 to 31, with the main race scheduled for May 30.

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 4 – Samburu County will host the 37th edition of the Rhino Charge, an off-road competition that raises funds for conservation projects across the country.

Organised by the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust, the event will take place from May 29 to 31, with the main race scheduled for May 30.

Clerk of Course Don White said the exact location will remain undisclosed until shortly before the event, with route notes expected to start at Archers Post along the Isiolo–Samburu border.

The competition has attracted 65 vehicles, including seven new entrants, and will feature scrutineering, the off-road challenge and a prize-giving ceremony.

Participant Tanav Choda said, “My passion for both conservation and competition inspired me to take part,” highlighting the event’s blend of sport and environmental advocacy.

Since its launch in 1989, Rhino Charge has raised over Sh2.7 billion to support ecosystem protection, including forests and water catchment areas across Kenya.
