NAIROBI, Kenya, February 19, 2026 – The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), representing over two million businesses directly and indirectly, has welcomed the Government’s recent nominations to the National Land Commission (NLC) while urging professional and merit-based appointments to strengthen land governance.
In a statement, KEPSA emphasized that land administration plays a central role in Kenya’s economic and social development, influencing investment facilitation, infrastructure expansion, environmental sustainability, urban planning, and secure land tenure.
Given the Commission’s critical mandate, the Alliance called for a balanced composition of technical expertise, including professionals in land surveying, land economics, valuation, physical planning, and land administration as envisioned in the NLC Act.
KEPSA noted that multidisciplinary teams integrating technical, legal, and policy competencies enhance evidence-based decision-making, improve institutional performance, and strengthen public confidence.
“Ensuring such representation supports effective execution of the Commission’s responsibilities, including public land management, land information systems, advisory on land registration, and review of historical land matters,” the statement read.
The Alliance further recommended adherence to principles such as technical competence, professional representation, transparency in selection processes, and alignment with national development goals.
