NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 9 – Enwealth Foundation has awarded 360 secondary school scholarships worth Sh22 million to students from vulnerable backgrounds across the country, as part of its education support programme.
The scholarships were issued under the Enwealth Fanisi Scholarship programme, which targets academically promising learners who face financial constraints. The foundation said the initiative aims to expand access to quality education while supporting personal development and life skills.
Speaking during the award ceremony in Nairobi, Dr Mumbua Mbaluka of the National Intelligence and Research University said students needed to align their education with changing economic conditions, noting that academic qualifications alone are no longer sufficient in the job market.
Dr Mbaluka said skills development, innovation and problem-solving are increasingly important as fewer graduates are absorbed into formal employment, both locally and globally.
Enwealth Foundation Executive Director John Kennedy Monyoncho said the scholarships go beyond financial support and are intended to help beneficiaries pursue education while developing discipline and leadership skills.
According to the foundation, it has supported more than 500 students since 2011, investing over Sh80 million in scholarships, mentorship and education-related programmes.
