Businesses closed in Nairobi as goons infiltrate Odinga mourning march

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 15 – Businesses in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) remained closed for the better part of Monday as traders feared possible looting and unrest after reports that goons had infiltrated a march to mourn the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

A spot check by Capital Business revealed that most shops and offices kept their doors shut throughout the day, with minimal activity reported across key streets in the city centre.

Odinga passed away earlier today in India after suffering a cardiac arrest, according to the BBC, which reported that attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

At the time of his death, the veteran opposition leader was 80 years old.
