Jiji recognized as top online platform for car sales in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 2 – Online marketplace Jiji has been recognized as the Best Online Car Marketplace at the 7th Annual Kenya E-Commerce Awards held in Nairobi.

The accolade highlights the growing shift among Kenyan consumers toward digital platforms for high-value transactions, including vehicle purchases.

The recognition comes at a time when Kenya’s used car market continues to grow, with a 2025 Mordor Intelligence report estimating its value at $1.25 billion (Sh161.6 billion) and projecting steady growth through to 2030.

Increased internet access now reaching 27.4 million people and accounting for 48% of the population, according to Data Reportal has played a significant role in boosting confidence in online car sales.

Jiji, which features thousands of vehicle listings from both individual sellers and verified dealers, has positioned itself as a key player in this space.

The platform provides tools such as free car valuations to promote fair pricing and transparency features that cater to buyers navigating a traditionally opaque used car market.

“This win shows that Kenyans are choosing convenience, transparency, and digital access over outdated, offline processes,”said its PR Manager Maureen Naliaka.

“We’re proud to connect buyers and sellers directly, affordably, and fast, and this award is proof that we’re doing something right.”

The company’s growth is reflected in its digital footprint, with over 4 million monthly visits and nearly 2 million active listings.

Vehicles remain one of the top categories on the platform, alongside property and electronics.

The award signals a broader trend in Kenya’s digital economy, where convenience, accessibility, and trust are becoming defining features of successful platforms.
