NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 17 – Equity Foundation has announced the selection of 750 top-performing KCSE scholars to join its Equity Leadership Program (ELP).
The scholars, who attained top grades in the 2024 KCSE exams, will participate in a six-month paid pre-university internship at Equity Bank branches across the country.
The selected cohort includes 350 Wings to Fly and Elimu Scholars, 167 top sub-county performers, and 233 national scholars who scored a minimum of Grade A with 84 points.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Equity CEO James Mwangi praised the scholars for their dedication and academic excellence.
“This program is about more than just work experience it’s about shaping future leaders who will drive change in their communities and beyond,” he said.
The program includes mentorship, leadership training, and financial literacy sessions to prepare the scholars for university and future careers.
Additionally, interns will receive a monthly stipend, part of which will be saved to support their university transition.
Since its inception, the Equity Leadership Program has supported 29,515 scholars, with 970 securing scholarships at global universities, including Ivy League institutions.
According to the lender, the initiative continues to nurture Kenya’s brightest young minds, preparing them to become leaders and changemakers both locally and globally.
