KRA to reintroduce graduate trainee program, expand KESRA campuses

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 17 – The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced plans to reintroduce its Graduate Trainee Program as part of efforts to strengthen its human resource capacity.

Speaking during the 21st graduation ceremony of the Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA), KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga highlighted the program’s role in equipping staff with essential skills and knowledge.

“In light of our unwavering commitment to building a skilled workforce, I am excited to announce that this financial year, we will reintroduce the Graduate Trainee Program, which has historically proven to be a potent initiative for staff development,” Wattanga stated.

To support this initiative, Wattanga revealed that KRA will establish additional KESRA campuses across the country.

He also noted that recent infrastructure upgrades at the KESRA Mombasa Campus have expanded its capacity to offer more training programs and accommodate additional learners.

Skill and knowledge development among staff remains key to creating an optimal working environment for achieving the Authority’s mandate.

In the 2023/2024 financial year, KESRA trained over 7,000 KRA staff in various fields, including tax, customs, and logistics.

KESRA, the largest of four accredited World Customs Organization (WCO) Regional Training Centres in East and Southern Africa, continues to play a critical role in workforce development.

“We are marshalling resources to implement a robust campus master plan to enhance capacity and expand KESRA’s footprint nationwide,” Wattanga added.
