HRMPEB administers inaugural craft certificate in HR

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 11 – The Human Resource Management Professional Examinations Board (HRMPEB), a State Corporation has become the first exam body in Kenya to administer competency-based Craft Certificate in HRM.

The Craft Certificate in HR is at Level 5 and it target fresh graduates from high school who scored a minimum of D.  

The CBET Craft in HR exams, which are scheduled to begin today April 11, 2024, will be conducted concurrently with the second examination series for the Diploma in HR.

A total is 37 candidates drawn from Sigalagala and Kenya Coast National Polytechnics are the inaugural class to sit the Craft certificate program which was launched in July 2022.

The Craft Certificate course helps equip individuals with the competences, skills and attitudes required by employers in the ever-evolving market. 

Some of the advantages of CBET HR Programs include: Its focus is on the acquisition of appropriate competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude) and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of learners.

In addition, it uses of both formative and summative assessments in gauging learner progress as assessment is continuous and is carried out over longer periods. 

According to CEO CHRP Margaret Nguu, craft certificate was a program the Board started in order to accommodate students with different academic qualifications and enhance progression in academics.

As the programs begin to touch base, HRMPEB are targeting TVET Training institutions, colleges and universities in every county to offer the CBET HR programs.

Not only is Administering inaugural CBET Craft Certificate in HR exam a historic occasion for HRMPEB, but it also establishes a standard for HR certification and education in Kenya going forward.

The nation’s adoption of competency-based approaches to education and training is being led by HRMPEB, whose innovative work in human resource management serves as a shining example of innovation and quality.
