NAIROBI, Kenya, April 13 – More than half of Kenyans believe that government regulators lack adequate understanding of emerging technologies.
According to the 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer report, 56 percent of Kenyans believe that these regulators are yet to understand and regulate the emergence of technological innovations.
As a result, 76 percent of locals have entrusted non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with integrating innovation into society, putting them ahead of the government.
The Eldelman report studies the influence of trust across society in various bodies such as the government, media, business, and NGOs in the country.
Additionally, 72 percent of Kenyans have revealed that if business partners with the government, they will trust it more with technology-led changes.
“56% of Kenyans believe that Government regulators lack adequate understanding of emerging technologies to regulate them effectively.72% of Kenyans say if business partners with the government, they will trust it more with technology-led changes,” they stated.
Furthermore, the research pointed out that half of Kenyans believe that science has become more politicized since the government and organizations funding research wield excessive influence over scientific endeavors.
