NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 1 – Two people have been confirmed dead following a horrendous accident involving an oil tanker and a bus along the Busia-Kisumu highway.
In a joint statement, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) also said that eight others are currently hospitalized at the Busia referral hospital.
“Although the prime mover tanker suffered extensive damage, the trailer and the bulk tank remained intact with no leakage of the bulk transported,” read the statement in part.
EPRA and NTSA have asserted that the crash site has been secured, dispelling fears of any emergencies.
The regulatory bodies have blamed the accident on lane indiscipline by the oil trailer, averring that it tried to overtake, causing the accident.
They, however, maintain that investigations are going on to establish the facts leading up to the incident.
