mTek cuts travel insurance costs by 20% for travelers

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 22 – mTek, a Kenyan-based digital online insurance platform, has slashed the cost of travel insurance policies for domestic and international trips over the Easter holiday.

Travelers will enjoy a 20 percent reduction in the cost of travel cover.

The insurtech offers travel insurance policies that provide comprehensive coverage, including protection for medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost baggage, removing worries for travelers.

“Our goal at mTek is to help customers enjoy their trips by providing affordable insurance coverage to protect themselves and their loved ones throughout their journey,” said Bente Krogmann, CEO of mTek.

“By offering this special Easter discount, mTek aims to encourage travelers to prioritize their safety and well-being while exploring new destinations and creating lasting memories with family and friends,” Krogmann added.

He emphasized that travelers could obtain coverage in less than three minutes via the app, web, and WhatsApp.

From single-trip policies to annual multi-trip plans, travelers can select the coverage that best aligns with their specific requirements, ensuring maximum protection and peace of mind.

The Easter holiday, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the second most preferred vacation time for Kenyans after Christmas.

This year’s Easter holiday will take place from March 29 to April 1, 2024.

According to Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) statistics, the Easter period typically witnesses increased travel activities across the country.

In 2023, KTB data indicated a 10 percent increase in hotel bed occupancy within the domestic market during the Easter holiday.
