NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 6 – Plans to separate Safaricom from M-Pesa are still on, Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Kamau Thugge has confirmed.
Thugge, however, said that there have been complications in terms of the amount of tax to be paid for the severing.
He said that the telco is engaged with the National Treasury to iron out the issue.
Last year, CBK held talks with telecommunication firms about the separation of mobile money and other business activities to minimize shocks.
