DCI Seeks To Detain 5 Suspects In Mobile Phone Scam

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 2 – The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has applied for an order to hold two Chinese and three Kenyans to allow his officers investigate incidents of stolen mobile phones.

The prosecution told the court, that the two Chinese ran a factory capable of fabricating mobile phones and police want to establish whether stolen phones are being processed there.

The court was told that several items including phones were confiscated from the factory by the police, and they require time to carry out further investigations to ascertain their real work.

The two Chinese were arrested on Monday and according to investigating officers they have refused to be taken finger prints, nor have they produced their work permits.

The Investigating officers want to extend their investigations to the Kenya Bureau of Standards, Kenya Revenue Authority, the counterfeit and migration offices.

The court to deliver ruling on whether to allow custodial prayers as sort by the DCI.
