NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 13 – A number of Financial Institutions were awarded during this year’s Champions of Governance Awards hosted by the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK).
Launched in 2010, the awards usually focus on financial institutions that usually have good practice when it comes to how they govern themselves.
In the Finance and Investment Sector Award category, NCBA Bank Limited was named top and followed by the African Banking Corporation (ABC) Bank Limited.
The third position was taken by Kenya Development Corporation (KDC).
ABC Bank Managing Director Shamaz Savani said that the company has been embracing innovation which saw it named amongst the best.
“This feat is a testimony of the Bank’s commitment to apply good governance principles and practices, embracing innovation and emerging knowledge in the field of corporate governance,” Savani said.
Other winners in various categories include; Invest and Grow Sacco Society Limited, Ndege Chai Sacco Limited, Safaricom Sacco Society Limited, Nursing Council of Kenya and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
The main aim of this awards is to promote practices in good governance in various ways which circulate around good governance.
This year’s award was the eleventh edition and a number of organisations had been asked to submit their entries for the awards.
