NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 18 – Motor dealer Toyota Kenya Limited seeks to expand its countrywide dealership to reach more customers in under-served areas.
The firm is looking for auto dealers/garage owners in Namanga, Narok, Naivasha and Busia to partner with.
Toyota is expanding its services across the country to bring car services closer to car owner who have for years been forced to visit major towns to access crucial services.
“Are you an auto dealer/garage owner in Narok, Naivasha, Namanga, or Busia looking to grow your business? Partner with us for an opportunity to become a supplier of genuine parts from Toyota and/or a CFAO motors service center to expand our network,” Toyota said on its Twitter handle page.
Toyota vehicles have become popular in Kenya for being reliable and durable compared to other brands.
Demand for the vehicles have also helped push prices down compared to other brands such as Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, Hyundai, which are pricey.
A survey that was done by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) showed that Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation controlled 57.3 per cent of the used and new models car market.
Jointly, Honda Motor Company, Isuzu Motors and Nissan Motor Corporation controlled 91 per cent of vehicles sold in Kenya.
KRA figures indicated that 97,105 Toyotas were registered in the 22 months to October 2018, when vehicle registration stood at 169,206.
Probox was the most used brand at 14,188 followed by Corolla (10,786), Hiace (5,353) and Vitz (5,468).
Toyota Kenya range of products in the country include Yamaha, HINO, Suzuki as well as Toyota vehicles.
In the nine months to December 2019, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, which owns DT Dobie and Toyota Kenya, posted a Sh10.3 billion profit in Africa, representing a 89.8 per cent rise.
