NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 1 — Britam Holdings PLC has appointed Tom Gitogo as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer effective 1 September 2022.
Gitogo takes over the leadership of Britam from Charles Njuguna who has been serving in an acting capacity since January 2022.
His appointment comes after a 6-month rigorous interview by Britam.
Welcoming his appointment, the chair of Britam PLC’s board chairman Kuria Muchiru exuded confidence in Gitogo to steer the company in the right direction based on the vast experience he has.
“We are excited to have Tom join as the Group Managing Director and CEO and are convinced that he is the right person to drive our new customer-centric transformational strategy to achieve our financial performance,” added Muchiru.
Gitogo, who boasts an experience of over 20 years in the insurance industry, has served in different capacities including as the CEO of CIC Insurance Group and Sanlam Insurance as well.
He served in the capacity at CIC for 5 years, overseeing the company’s leadership not only in Kenya but also in Uganda, Malawi and South Sudan.
Gitogo is a holder of Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Strategic Management from Moi University and is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
