NAIROBI, Kenya, October 19 – President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Wednesday morning launch the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway Phase 2A at Embulbul in Ngong.
State House confirmed that the Head of State who will be accompanied by Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia and Kenya Railways Managing Director Atanas Maina will be launching the project that will see the railway line stretch from Nairobi to Naivasha.
The new line is an extension of the Mombasa – Nairobi line that is nearing completion.
The government approved the designs for the Nairobi-Naivasha SGR earlier on this year and later signed commercial contracts with China Communications Construction Company.
