NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 5- Police officers are hunting down a gang of four that hijacked Viwandani Ward Member of County Assembly Samuel Nyangwara at dawn on Tuesday.

Detectives were notified of the 4am incident that occurred along Bunyala Road by a member of the public as the MCA was driving to his residence after leaving a late night meeting.

A speedy and well coordinated search was launched by police but the hijackers abandoned the MCA in Capitol Hill, after they discovered they were being trailed.

A senior detective privy to the ongoing investigation told Capital FM News that the armed thugs stole Sh100,000 from the county legislator and a mobile phone.

“We trailed them using the MCA’s phone but before we could catch-up with them, they fled,” he stated. “CCTV records captured along the routes they hijackers used will assist us in our probe.”

It was the second time the MCA was being hijacked within a span of few weeks.
