NAIROBI, Kenya, May 6 – A water shortage is expected in parts of Nairobi from Wednesday as a result of scheduled maintenance works at the Sasumua Water Treatment Plant.

According to a statement from the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, the maintenance works are expected to go on until Sunday.

“The aim is to enhance the plant’s efficiency in production and water quality and will result in a reduction of water production and supply by 30 percent,” the firm stated.

The areas affected include Westlands, Parklands, City Park, Lavington, Kilimani and State House.

Other areas to be affected are Loresho, Waithaka, Kangemi, Mountain View, Riruta, Satellite, Kawangware, Kibera, Madaraka, South C, Karen and Lang’ata.

Gigiri, Nyari, Lower Kabete and Spring Valley, areas along Ngong’ Road, Naivasha Road, Waiyaki Way and Peponi Road, and areas West of Uhuru Highway will also experience water scarcity.

The water company stated that every effort will be made to restore the supply of water and requested all customers to exercise patience during the period.
