Anto Neosoul & The Clarisse Sisters illuminate Nairobi in amazing collaboration

In a momentous occasion for Kenya’s music scene, Anto Neosoul and The Clarisse Sisters joined forces, bringing their unique sound and talent to the forefront. The sisters, known for their superb vocals and intricate harmonies developed over a remarkable 30-year international career, graced the stage for the first time in Kenya. This musical experience, unparalleled in the East African region, showcased their exceptional artistry. Hailing from the captivating island of Mauritius, a mere four-hour flight across the Indian Ocean from Nairobi, the trio of sisters, along with Anto Neosoul, captivated audiences with their unmatched talent and rich cultural influences.

Annick, Dominique and Veronique have performed on 4 continents, since 1992: mostly in North America, Europe and South East Asia. First as BGVs, The Twins, Ann and Vero, toured the world with Erasure Basia and Matt Bianco Their collaboration with Basia lasted for 21 years and ended in March 2015 with a final gig at the Cape Town Jazz Festival. Veronique also toured the world in 1999 with Acid Jazz powerhouse Incognito, a band that has played in Kenya before, including an appearance at the SAFARICOM Jazz Festival. On her part, elder sister Dominique shared the stage with Whitney Houston in Mauritius and supported Chris De Burgh, on vocals, in St Tropez (France).

Born in Nairobi, Anto Neosoul has established himself as a unique act. A singer songwriter in his own right, he is also an influential media personality in East Africa. Nation FM star DJ and TV prodigy since his debut in 2019 on the cast of “Shuga” season 1 & 2, on MTV Base. He was voted Avance Media influencer of the year in Kenya for 2019 and has a regular show on NTV, called “The Trend”, with growing success since early 2020.

The collaboration between The Clarisse Sisters and Anto Nesoul stemmed from a remarkable fusion of their shared love for similar music genres and their respective solo careers that appeared to be moving along parallel trajectories on opposite sides of the Indian Ocean.

Anto Neosoul released his 1st album in 2015, when TCS also introduced KALEIDOSCOPE! The first singles were both a huge success in Kenya (“Paid my dues”) and in Mauritius (“Papitou”). Their respective second album also came 7 years later, in March/April 2022, with leading singles like “Breaking News” and “Gravity” offering music videos with a clearly identifiable retro-chic style, and both with an old MG cabriolet!
