#SusanEats: A Business Lunch with a View

When it comes to business lunches, I always look for a restaurant that has great service, good food, efficient service, and most importantly, inspired ambiance. After all, being inspired is the best way to elevate a regular meeting over lunch to a whole new level.

At The View, Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Nairobi’s revolving restaurant on the 24th floor, nothing unleashes more inspiration than the incredible panoramic 360-degrees views of the city. Seeing Nairobi from high-above somehow inspires new perspectives and can add a little oomph to your meeting if the food doesn’t already do the trick.

As the elevator doors slide open, the light blinds you for just a moment as you step into an orbit of light. If this is your first time at The View, you’ll need a moment to take-in the view. Charles and his team of staff welcome you with a subtle charm that makes you feel welcomed and at ease. The interior décor is classic with deep tones of wood, but otherwise remains minimal to not detract from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The restaurant spins at a slow, smooth and steady pace – it takes 80 minutes to revolve 360 degrees.

My companion and I first began with a Lentil Soup with Sauteed Chicken Sausage, and a Salad Caprese.  The soup was very hearty and rich in flavour, and its portion size was enough to satisfy most appetites. The Caprese featured fresh tomatoes and a wonderful pesto that was very light and refreshing. A Cabbage Roll with Bacon and Caraway Gravy and a plate of Bratwurst with Sauerkraut followed. Both were full of flavour. The Cabbage Roll encased moist bacon, whilst the Bratwursts were perfectly cooked and oozed melted cheese. We finished our Business Lunch with a refreshing Fruit Salad and a warm Rhubarb Crumble.

The food is predominantly Swiss-inspired. As for their Business Lunch, the set menu changes daily, and is available from 12:30pm to 3pm for KSH 2,200 for two courses, and KSH 2,600 for three courses.
