Cape Town International Jazz Festival announces The Internet to complete line-up

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) heralded its 18th year with a brilliantly edgy, instantly-appealing and musically broad line-up that will captivate jazz purists, world music fans, fusion lovers and soul nostalgics.

Los Angeles-based, Grammy nominated ‘curious and pioneering’ hip hop, neo-soul and R&B outfit The Internet, is headed to Cape Town.  Concluding the line-up for the 18th Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF), members, Syd ‘tha kid’ Bennett, Matt Martians, Patrick Paige II, Christopher Smith and Steve Lacy will energise and engage fans with their powerful messaging phrased through their unique blend of nuanced soulful melodies and beats, that connect deep within.

Defying easy categorization of their crossover multi-genre sounds, The Internet was christened as a result of the two producers – Syd (Sydney) and Matt Martians (real name Matthew Martins) – meeting on the net, then officially forming the band in 2011.  They have since released three studio albums and three extended plays, with Ego Death, nominated for a Grammy – Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Catch The Internet on the Manenberg Stage on Saturday 1st April 2017 at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival happening 31 March and 1 April 2017.
