Lara Croft fans are currently taking part in an extreme billboard challenge to mark the UK launch of ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’.

Eight enthusiastic followers of the iconic video game and movie character are participating in a contest in which they’re expected to survive 24 hours on a billboard, while being subjected to the harshest weather conditions.

The surreal stunt is inspired by the critically-acclaimed ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’, which is set in Siberia, and the ultimate winner of the challenge is to be decided by the voting public.

What’s more, the viewers – who can follow the dramatic action via survivalbillboard.com – are being afforded the chance to vote on the weather conditions which the competitors are subjected to, including the Arctic cold, intense wind and wild snowstorms, as well as sudden heat.

‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ – which is the latest instalment in the franchise about the daredevil archaeologist – features jaw-dropping action sequences set in the most spectacular-looking hostile environments on Earth.

Players of the new game – which is released on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in the UK tomorrow (13.11.15) – will control Lara, voiced by actress Camilla Luddington, as she tries to discover the secret of immortality.

The game will see Lara return to her raiding roots with demanding puzzle-based levels and a scale of tomb not seen before in the franchise, which began in 1996.

Angelina Jolie portrayed Lara in two films, ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life’, in 2001 and 2003.
