NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 22 – French automaker Peugeot has launched a new pickup in the Kenyan market to meet growing demand.
The Peugeot Landtrek was launched by French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Olivier Becht at the French Embassy in Nairobi.
Becht said the launch highlights the strong partnership between France and Kenya.
“I am confident that the Kenyan people will appreciate the vehicle’s outstanding performance and exceptional design, which make it an ideal partner for any adventure or professional undertaking,” Becht said.
Urysia Limited Managing Director Claude Mwende said the model is suited for the Kenyan market.
“We are thrilled to bring the new Peugeot Landtrek to the Kenyan market, we believe that it is an exceptional vehicle that offers the perfect combination of robustness, loading capacity, modern and attractive style and exceptional adaptability, making it well-suited for the Kenyan market,’’ Mwende said.
“The Peugeot Landtrek is a phenomenal vehicle tailormade for markets such as Kenya, I am confident the vehicle will offer great value to users in this region,’’ French Ambassador to Kenya Arnaud Suquet expressed.
Its launch comes six years after Urysia and PSA Group signed an agreement with the Kenyan government to assemble Peugeot vehicles locally.
Landtrek offers up to three tons of towing capacity with a payload exceeding one ton.
It features a 1.9-liter turbodiesel with a 6-speed automatic gearbox that gives out 110 kW.
On safety, the car is fitted with six airbags and an electronic stability program that includes hill descent control, hill start assist, and trailer swing control, which acts automatically as soon as the trailer veers out of line.
