Jambojet Targets Sh45mn Monthly Income With Newly Launched Charter Operations

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 15-Low cost carrier Jambojet is targeting to generate a monthly income of Sh45million through its newly launched charter operations.

The move is part of the airline’s recovery plan at a time when industry players across the world are working to bounce back to profitability from the troubles occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

Jambojet Acting Managing Director Karanja Ndegwa in a media briefing said that the airline will allocate at least one non-scheduled flight and will increase the number as demand arises where it hopes to generate 15 percent of its monthly revenues.

“ Our monthly revenues are about three hundred million and what we are looking at is at least one craft available which is about 15 percent of our revenues which is our target, and we are also targeting to get 5 or so charters in a weekly basis,” said Ndegwa.

According to Ndegwa, charter flights will address customer demands such as co-operate companies and families who want privacy while moving around their various destinations.

“Each route has its different costs, once you share, we can calculate the monies to be paid where co-operates and families want to travel,” he added.

“The flights do not have to be within the routes that we operate in or further, there are people who still don’t feel safe to travel and this program will help address that,” Jambojet Acting Managing Director Karanja Ndegwa.

The charter can accommodate up to 78 passengers per flight depending on the route.

Since its inception in 2014, Jambojet has been a scheduled service operator, serving the domestic market, and expanded to Uganda and Rwanda in February 2017 and November 2019 respectively.
