Nine arrested as CA cracks down on unlicensed courier operators in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 21 – The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has arrested nine people in Eastleigh, Nairobi, in a crackdown on unlicensed parcel and courier service providers.

The joint operation with the National Police Service targeted firms offering courier services without the required licenses under Section 67 of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998. Parcels, receipts, and consignment books were seized as exhibits.

Among the firms found to be operating illegally were Al-Safa Parcel Services, Falcon Fastforward Parcel Services, Turkana Parcel Services, Ramadhan Parcel, Mandera Parcel Stores, Skyway Centre, Sharks Solution Parcel Services, and Rahma Bus Services Limited.

The suspects are being held at California Police Station and will be arraigned at Makadara Law Courts.

CA has urged companies seeking to operate courier services to obtain proper licenses from its offices in Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nyeri, and Mombasa.

It also advised consumers to only use licensed providers to safeguard deliveries and support the lawful growth of the sector.
