NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 2 – The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has recovered Sh4.22 billion through public reports of corruption and tax evasion submitted on its iWhistle platform.
During the Taxpayers’ Day awards on Friday, President William Ruto announced that 883 cases of malpractice were reported, leading to the recovered funds.
He added that 255 KRA staff members are under investigation for suspected corruption.
“To uphold public confidence, motivate tax compliance, and promote accountability, it’s essential to maintain integrity,” President Ruto stated.
The president emphasized that adopting digital solutions has significantly advanced the fight against corruption, theft, and resource wastage.
He further urged other government agencies to collaborate with KRA to strengthen revenue collection.
At the event, President Ruto launched KRA’s Ninth Corporate Plan and the Gava Connect API platform to enhance tax efficiency and service delivery through technology and optimized processes.
