NAIROBI,Kenya,May 26-I&M Group has reported a 19% increase in Profit After Tax to KES 5.0 billion for the first quarter of 2026, up from Sh4.2 billion in the same period last year.
Profit Before Tax rose 9% to Sh6.4 billion, while total revenue increased 24% to Sh16.1 billion. Net interest income grew 31% to Sh12 billion, compared to a 7% rise in non-interest income to Sh3.8 billion.
Total assets increased 31% to Sh743 billion. Customer deposits rose 26% to Sh512 billion, while the loan book expanded 10% to Sh323 billion.
The Group recorded a 42% increase in customer numbers year-on-year.
Operating expenses rose 28% as the Group expanded branch infrastructure, invested in staff development, and strengthened its brand and distribution network.
Net non-performing loans declined 33% year-on-year to Sh8.4 billion. Gross non-performing loans fell from Sh34 billion to Sh32 billion.
Provisions increased 63% year-on-year as the Group raised coverage buffers across its markets.
Subsidiaries contributed 31% of Profit Before Tax.
The bancassurance business grew revenues by 33%, supported by a 148% rise in underwritten premiums to Sh3.5 billion.
Wealth management revenues increased 209% to Sh229 million.
Capital and liquidity ratios remained stable across subsidiaries.
