Joshua Oigara named Stanbic Holdings CEO

Oigara succeeds Patrick Mweheire, who retired on February 28, 2026, and will continue to serve in a senior executive role within the Standard Bank Group, according to Company Secretary Nancy Kiruki.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 13 – Stanbic Holdings Plc has appointed Joshua Oigara as its new Chief Executive Officer and Director effective March 1, 2026.

Oigara succeeds Patrick Mweheire, who retired on February 28, 2026, and will continue to serve in a senior executive role within the Standard Bank Group, according to Company Secretary Nancy Kiruki.

Oigara currently serves as Standard Bank’s Regional Chief Executive for East Africa, overseeing operations in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, South Sudan and Ethiopia. He previously served as KCB Group CEO.

He will assume the Stanbic Holdings role alongside his regional responsibilities.

The board said he brings extensive knowledge of East African markets and experience in leading institutional transformation.

In the nine months to September last year, Stanbic Bank Kenya posted a net profit of Sh9.7 billion, representing a 38.2 percent decline compared to a similar period the previous year.

The lender attributed the drop in profitability to a Sh2.7 billion pension settlement following a Supreme Court ruling.
