NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 1 – Global insurtech firm bolttech has entered the Kenyan market through a partnership with NCBA Bank’s digital banking platform, LOOP, marking its first foray into East Africa.
The partnership will see the rollout of LOOP Flex Device Financing (LOOP Flex) in October, a product designed to provide customers with access to affordable devices while embedding comprehensive insurance coverage.
The program will include financing options combined with protection against theft, accidental and liquid damage, mechanical breakdowns, and extended warranties.
Repairs will be carried out at certified service centres using genuine parts.
According to bolttech, the move extends its presence on the continent while tapping into Kenya’s fast-growing digital economy.
The company, which operates globally across multiple markets, said the initiative aligns with its strategy of embedding insurance into everyday digital transactions.
LOOP DFS CEO Eric Muriuki said the partnership will enhance accessibility to devices while safeguarding users against risks.
“This partnership enables us to make high-quality devices more affordable while giving our customers the peace of mind that comes with comprehensive protection. It’s another step towards delivering innovative, accessible, and digitally driven financial solutions that empower our customers to live and work with confidence,” he said.
Bolttech EMEA CEO and Group Chief Investment Officer Stephan Tan emphasized the importance of entering the Kenyan market with a trusted partner.
“Kenya is one of Africa’s most dynamic digital economies, and we are proud to enter the market alongside LOOP, a trusted and innovative local partner. Together, we are embedding protection into the device ownership journey, enabling more people to afford and safeguard the technology they rely on every day,” he said
Kenya’s insurtech and digital finance market has been expanding as demand for mobile-based financial services continues to grow.
With LOOP Flex, bolttech aims to capture a share of this segment by bundling financing with insurance, a model increasingly being adopted in emerging markets.
