NAIROBI, Kenya, April 11 – Prestige Plaza has finalized a Ksh400 million facelift aimed at modernizing the iconic shopping complex and enhancing the retail and leisure experience for visitors.
The revamp, led by retail trade real estate investments firm Primrose Management Limited, included upgrades to common areas, installation of escalators, and creation of new retail spaces.
A key highlight of the redevelopment is the launch of Playza, Kenya’s largest interactive Family Entertainment Centre, spanning 35,000 square feet across two levels.
Playza features a 12-lane bowling alley—including four Hyper-Bowling lanes supplied by US-based QubicaAMF—Mind Golf, Bumper Cars, Ninja Challenge, karaoke and party rooms, a kids’ zone, pool tables, and a bar and restaurant by The Daily Café & Bistro. It complements the two-screen Prestige Cinema, which offers 229 seats per screen.
Primrose Managing Director Jitesh Upadhyay said the investment reflects confidence in the recovery of Kenya’s retail sector.
“With support from NCBA Bank, we’ve invested over Ksh200 million in mall upgrades and a similar amount in Playza to provide the ultimate leisure experience,” he noted.
The revamped mall now hosts new tenants such as Home & Beyond, Azone Appliances, Bata, Aga Khan Medical Centre, and Prestige Palm Banquet Hall, alongside existing outlets including Naivas, Rossetti, and Food Patio. With a 98% occupancy rate, management says customer traffic has significantly improved.
GOInvest Property Consultants’ Commercial Director Jimmy Ngugi added that the upgrades are part of a strategy to meet the evolving needs of modern consumers.
