Africa Media Festival 2025: Bridging Gaps, Connecting Media Futures

Nairobi, Kenya — The Africa Media Festival (AMF) is set to return for its third edition on February 26-27, 2025, at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi. The festival has become a cornerstone for media professionals, storytellers, and innovators across the continent, fostering collaboration and meaningful conversations about African media’s future.

Under this year’s theme, “Bridging Gaps, Connecting Media Futures,” AMF will address structural, technological, and cultural challenges in African media while exploring new pathways for representation and collaboration.

“With over 1,300 attendees, 120 speakers, and 50 sessions since inception, AMF is more than an event—it’s a creative recharge station for African media practitioners,” said Maurice Otieno, Executive Director at Baraza Lab.

What to Expect
The two-day event offers diverse experiences, including:
– Ignite Talks: Brief sessions exploring innovative ideas.
– Workshops: Hands-on training on emerging media trends.
– Unconference Sessions: Participant-led discussions for candid dialogue.
– Demos: Showcases of storytelling techniques and technologies.
Evening concerts will feature performances, including surprise acts, promising an unforgettable experience.

“This year, we spotlight the unsung heroes of the media industry—those who shape impactful narratives behind the scenes,” noted Martie Mtange, Deputy Curator, AMF.

A Mission Beyond the Event
AMF 2025 aims to drive representation and collaboration across Africa’s media landscape, featuring voices from rural creators, independent media, and marginalized communities alongside industry leaders.

“AMF is where Africa’s creative heart comes alive, connecting storytellers, innovators, and leaders to shape the narratives that matter,” said Lisa Muchangi, Marketing and Communications Manager, Baraza Lab.

Through partnerships with media houses, industry leaders, and philanthropic organizations, AMF extends its impact beyond the event, with initiatives like regional forums, online engagements, and the new AMF Ambassador Program, which will amplify its vision across the continent.

Africa Media Festival 2025 offers a unique platform to celebrate African stories, connect media professionals, and shape the future of African media.
