NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 22 – Private candidates performed well in last year’s Certified Human Resource Professionals (CHRP) and CBET Diploma in HRM exams.
The private candidature program, which pioneered the November 2023 exams series, attracted 405 candidates, highlighting a growing interest in alternative learning pathways.
Some of the courses that private candidates did well included Office Administration and Practice, Human Resource Administration, Organizational Change and Development, and Strategic Human Resource Management.
Others were Business Law, Organizational Theory and Behavior, Human Resource Development, Performance Management and Productivity, Coaching, Mentoring and Counselling, HR Accounting, Metrics and Analytics, and HR Audit.
“Administering the first Private Candidature mode of study is a milestone in the management of HR qualifications in Kenya and beyond,” HRMPEB Chairperson CS Sharon Kisire said.
“Private Candidature seeks to develop and implement a more flexible, efficient learner pathway in recognition that learning can also take place outside a formal classroom.”
CHRP Examination Results
Between November 22nd and 23rd, the CHRP Examinations administered examined 1,366 candidates under the old and the revised CHRP curriculum. Male candidates were 313 (23 percent) while female candidates were 1,053 (77 percent).
In addition, 16 inaugural candidates sat for the competency-based education and training (CBET) diploma examinations.
Male candidates were 6, while female candidates were 10.
CBET Diploma Results
The CBET Diploma Program saw 16 candidates undertake a total of five (5) courses, resulting in an overall average pass rate of 81.3 percent.
Among the courses, Principles of Labor Economics achieved the highest mean mark, standing at 59.31, while Business Communication recorded the lowest mean mark of 46.13.
Noteworthy is the outstanding performance of Salaash Leteiyo Ronnie, who excelled in four out of the five subjects examined.
The individual achievement highlights the success of the program.
Initiated at Kabete National Polytechnic, the CBET Diploma Program has witnessed notable progress, drawing interest from candidates in various other TVET institutions who are set to participate in the upcoming examination series.
“The Administration of the first CBET diploma in Human Resource Management cohort in their inaugural examinations marks a significant milestone for HRMPEB,” CEO, HRMPEB, CHRP Nicholas Kanisa FIHRM stated.
“CBET emphasizes practical skills and competencies, aligning the educational experience with the needs of the workforce. The Board has accreditated more TVET institutions to offer CBET Programs for expansion.”
The results released can be accessed in the new ERP Student Portal, which was launched during the June 2023 examinations.
