M-Pesa services restored after outage

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 9 – M-Pesa services are now back to normal after being interrupted earlier today due to ongoing scheduled maintenance.

A spot-check by Capital Business showed that all services were back on the M-Pesa app, USSD code, and SIM tool kit.

The blackout impacted individuals and companies using mobile money platforms, as they could not receive or make payments.

Safaricom’s M-Pesa has grown to become one of the biggest mobile money platforms that supports various sectors of the economy, thus its importance.
