Buxton Point Developers awarded as the best real estate developer

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 18 – The company building the Sh6 billion Buxton affordable housing project in Mombasa has been ranked as the best real estate developer.

Buxton Point was recognized during the Mombasa Business Awards Gala Dinner at a spectacular event graced by Governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir and Saudi Ambassador to Kenya Khalif bin Abdullah Al-Salman.

The Mombasa business awards is an annual event that is organized by the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Mombasa Chapter.

The Buxton Point award was given by Governor Nassir and received by Buxton Point CEO Ahmed Badawy who led his team to the stage at Jumeirah Beachfront.

Other contenders in the category were Aden Contractors, Fairdeal Properties, Solian Properties Limited, and Kenya Projects.

Badawy dedicated the award to the company’s sales team which is being run by people living with disabilities.

“This is an honor to us and we are delighted by the confidence given to us by the people of Mombasa. We thank all the stakeholders including the county government for supporting us and ensuring this project becomes a reality,” said Badawy.

This is the second award the Buxton project has received this year. The first one was a Gold star award awarded by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) Africa.

The award also recognized the project’s social amenities and facilities including having provisions for a community centre, disability and elderly-friendly environment, connectivity to town, kindergarten, social hall, sports courts, green areas, and swimming pool among others.

The project survey and scoring were done by both the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and ITDP Africa, a non-governmental organisation.

The Buxton project involves the construction of 2,000 affordable units. The project’s phase 1 includes 584 units which will be handed over next year.

The remaining units are in Phase 2 whose sale is currently ongoing.
