Petrol Prices Continue to Hike, This Time by Sh0.77 per litre

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 14 – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has increased the price of Super Petrol by Sh0.77 per litre while that of diesel and kerosene remains unchanged.

In Nairobi, users of super petrol will therefore pay Sh127.14 for a litre of the commodity, while those in Mombasa will part with Sh124.72 starting midnight.

Motorists in Eldoret and Kisumu will pay Sh127.67, while those in Nakuru will part with Sh126.75.

Diesel and Kerosene prices remain steady at Sh105.27 and Sh95.46 per litre respectively, in Nairobi.

The Authority’s Acting Director General Daniel Bargoria says the hike is a consequence of a 1.52 percent increase in the cost of imported super petrol from US$488.69 per cubic metre in April to US$496.1.

The prices are inclusive of the 8 percent Value Added Tax that is in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018, the Tax laws Act 2020 and the revised rates for excite duty adjusted for inflation.
